If you know me, you know that I love Bon Jovi. Always have, always will. I’m kind of a freak when it comes to him. I know most people really don’t like him, but I love his music and think he’s a great person too. And frankly, I don’t care if nobody else likes him. His music has gotten me through a lot and that’s all that matters.
Anyway, both music and poetry move me the same way that quotes do. They speak to me. Make me feel grounded in this world. This song by Bon Jovi is definitely not my favorite sounding of his, but I love the message in the lyrics. I am sure every one of us, from the natural “perfect 10” to the much less fortunate, have felt ugly at some point. Some have maybe only felt it a handful of times while others maybe nearly daily. Some may feel it on the outside, others may feel it on the inside. Or both. But what this song reminds me of is no matter how ugly we feel, there is always someone that thinks we are beautiful. There is always someone that loves us just the way we are. We are almost always our own worst critics. This song is a great reminder of that.
