The way I see it, we never really get rid of our training wheels. And I personally don’t want to. For me, the Training Wheels of Life represent three important aspects of my life.
First and foremost, I recognize that I am not going through this life alone. Yes, I am the leader in my own show. I am the one on the bike. But the training wheels are my friends and family who are there to support me when I am struggling. They are there to keep me upright. And when life is going good they are there riding right alongside me cheering me on.
Training wheels also represent knowledge. I may know (or may think I know) a lot about certain things. But I certainly don’t know everything. Even things that we are experts in, in order to stay experts we must continue learning. So continued education and knowledge are the training wheels that help keep us going on the right path in our careers and hobbies or interests and help us succeed in life.
Last but definitely not least, the training wheels represent my faith. Like my friends and family, my training wheels of faith keep me from falling. When I am struggling, I rely on my faith to see me through. Also, like the continued education and knowledge, my training wheels of faith keep me learning about and seeking a relationship with God. They keep me pointed on the right path toward trying to live a life filled with love. Love for myself and love for others.
Tell me, would you want to live your life without training wheels? I know I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to go through life without my training wheels – without my faith, my friends, my family, and my thirst for knowledge. These are the things that life is all about. And this is what this blog is about. My journey through my faith, through my relationships, and through whatever knowledge I seek. Come, take the journey with me.
