Fifteen Paintings, Fifteen Personalities: Our First Craft Night!

I am still smiling about Tuesday night! Our very first Life With Training Wheels craft night at Old 121 Public House was everything I hoped it would be, and then some. 🎨🍂

All 15 people who signed up showed up! We had one wonderfully lively group of 13 celebrating together, plus a couple who joined in the fun. There was laughter, conversation, and so much encouragement around the tables. The big group’s energy was contagious, and people told me they had even more fun than they expected.

One theme, so many different artistic styles. I loved every one!

Same forest. Fifteen completely different paintings.

My favorite part of the night was watching everyone’s paintings take on a personality of their own. We all started with the same autumn forest, but that’s where the similarities ended. Some people followed my example almost exactly. Others experimented with different tree shapes, unexpected colors, pinks and purples, and little touches that made their forests feel almost mystical.

I loved looking around and seeing how differently everyone interpreted the same idea. That’s what I want these nights to be about. You don’t need any painting experience, and you certainly don’t need to make yours look like mine. You get to play, experiment, laugh, and make something that is completely yours.

A little glimpse of the evening

Here’s a short look at our first night, from painting in progress to the finished creations.

And this is only the beginning!

One couple was already excited about our upcoming decoupage projects, said I might see them every Tuesday, and asked about private parties. That made my night! I cannot wait to keep creating these opportunities for people to gather and have fun together.

Thank you to everyone who came out, and to the team at Old 121 for welcoming us. I left feeling inspired and already excited for the next one.

Come create with us in November

We’re gathering again on Tuesdays at Old 121 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. On November 10, make a Veterans Day-inspired flower pot or decoupage tray ($35); on November 17, create your own Gratitude Journal ($35); and on November 24, make a Thanksgiving table centerpiece ($40). All supplies are included. Visit our events page to explore the projects and register.

Planning a birthday, girls’ night, family gathering, or workplace team-building event? I would love to help you plan a private paint or craft party. Email me at sara@lifewithtrainingwheels.com and we can dream up something creative together.

See you around the craft table! ❤️
Sara
