Weekly Astrology: October 11–17 — Pluto Direct, New Possibilities & a Plan for What You Want
We’re coming into this week just after the Libra New Moon, and I keep coming back to this question: what do you actually want to do with the things you’re beginning to see differently?
There’s room for some optimism this week. There’s also a much slower, deeper shift happening with Pluto, and an opportunity to put real effort behind something that matters to you. I like that combination. Sometimes we need a little encouragement. Sometimes we need a plan. And sometimes we need to admit that we’ve changed, and the old plan doesn’t fit anymore.
Here’s what I’m watching for October 11–17. The first half of the week is pretty quiet with mostly just moon movements. But the second half of the week starts to get exciting!
Sunday, October 11: Moon enters Scorpio
Where the moon goes, our emotions go. When Moon is in Scorpio it wants to get underneath things or to the bottom of things. We may feel less interested in a surface-level answer and more interested in what is actually going on. What do I feel? Why does this bother me? Can I trust this? What am I holding onto?
With Venus still retrograde in Scorpio, this can bring us back to the questions about relationships, money, trust and self-worth that we talked about last week. An old feeling coming up doesn’t automatically mean you’re going backward. You may be noticing something you weren’t ready to see before.
Give yourself some room to be honest. Have the deeper conversation if it feels appropriate. Just watch the urge to investigate every little thing until you’ve convinced yourself that something must be wrong. A feeling deserves attention; it isn’t always the whole story. Be wary of your emotions getting out of control in Scorpio…..but trust your gut at the same time.
Tuesday evening, October 13: Moon enters Sagittarius
When the moon moves from Scorpio to Sagittarius, we are ready to come out of our cave and have some adventure. We are ready to move on any realizations we had. Ready to explore, see things differently, and are feeling a bit more optimistic.
This is a nice part of the week for learning something, sharing an idea, getting outside, or talking to someone whose experience is different from yours. You may find yourself asking bigger questions about what you believe and where you want your life to go.
I would just watch the tendency to jump straight from a hopeful idea to a giant commitment. Explore it! You don’t have to decide the entire future in one afternoon. Make sure to remember to take a pause.
Thursday, October 15: Sun in Libra sextile Jupiter in Leo
This is when it starts to get more exciting! This feels like an opening. The Sun is connected with our sense of self, vitality and the way we show up. Jupiter expands what it touches and is associated with growth, possibility, generosity and faith. It brings abundance. A sextile gives them a way to work together, but with sextiles the opportunities will fade away if we don’t act on them. We have to notice, and be active participants in the favorable energy.
Abundance might look like an opportunity, a useful introduction, someone appreciating your work, or a conversation that leaves you feeling seen and understood. It might also be having a little more confidence to ask for something, share what you’re creating, or let yourself imagine a bigger possibility.
Libra brings in relationships, cooperation, fairness and the ability to see another person’s perspective. Jupiter in Leo adds warmth, creativity and the courage to let more of yourself be visible. Together, I could see this supporting a collaboration, a heartfelt conversation, teaching, sharing your art, or simply enjoying people who encourage you.
If you’ve been waiting for someone to magically discover what you’re doing, this might be a good time to actually show them. Send the email. Share the idea. Ask the question. Let someone know what you have to offer. And be willing to receive the encouragement instead of immediately explaining why you aren’t ready.
The other side of Jupiter is excess. Feeling hopeful can turn into overpromising, spending more than you meant to, or saying yes to everything. Look for the opportunity, and still check whether it fits your time, resources and values.
Thursday evening, October 15: Pluto stations direct at 3°04′ Aquarius
This is the bigger shift I want to spend some time with.
When a planet stations, it appears to slow almost to a stop before changing its apparent direction from our perspective here on Earth. Pluto isn’t physically stopping or reversing its orbit. But astrologically, a station puts emphasis on that planet and the degree where it is lingering.
Pluto moves very slowly anyway. So I wouldn’t expect everything to suddenly change on the day it turns direct. This is a turning point in a longer process, and we may notice its themes in the days and weeks around the station – both before and after.
What does turning direct mean?
Pluto is associated with many things: power, control, deep change, the things we keep buried, and the parts of life we eventually have to face honestly. It is associated with death and rebirth, transformation, dark night of the soul. During the retrograde, we may have been revisiting some of these things internally: noticing a pattern, questioning a dynamic, or realizing that something we’ve been trying to keep together is asking to change.
As Pluto turns direct, the question can become: what am I going to do with what I know now?
Maybe you’ve realized that a relationship or group dynamic leaves you feeling smaller. Maybe a fear has been making decisions for you. Maybe you’ve outgrown an identity, but you’re still arranging your life around who you used to be. Moving forward might mean having a conversation, changing a boundary, or making a choice you’ve been quietly working toward for months.
Retrograde is realizing the pattern and perhaps the death of something. Direct is taking action on the transformation and beginning the rebirth. Both phases are necessary for our growth, and both can be uncomfortable.
But if we allow ourselves to enjoy the journey of life, rather than focusing on the destination, and looking at things through a lens of curiosity, it can be much easier to navigate these deep changes.
Remember also, that sometimes reclaiming your power means accepting what you cannot control. You can’t make someone understand you. You can’t manage every outcome. But you can decide what you participate in and how you respond.
Pluto in Aquarius: what kind of future are we building?
On a collective level, Aquarius brings groups, communities, networks, technology, ideas about progress, and the question of how the individual fits within the larger whole. With Pluto here, its asking us to look at the power dynamics beneath these things.
Who gets a voice? Who gets left out? Who controls the information and the platforms we use? Is a new technology giving people more freedom, or putting more power in fewer hands? Is a community making room for individuality, or asking everyone to think the same way?
Those are themes to watch over a long stretch of time. I’m not saying this station guarantees a particular news event. But it can be a moment when an existing issue becomes harder to ignore, or when something that has been developing starts moving into a more visible phase. Advancements in AI are already going at a rapid pace, and perhaps it picks up pace even more, or maybe its just harder to ignore.
On a more personal level this may show up through friendships, belonging, your relationship with technology, or the future you’re trying to create. Where are you editing yourself to fit in? What kind of community do you actually want? What are you ready to contribute? Are you willing to be fully seen as yourself?
For a more personal reading, look at the house containing Aquarius in your chart. That is where this longer transformation is unfolding. Planets or angles near 3 degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio may have a more direct connection with this station. The whole chart matters, though; we won’t all experience it in the same way.
For me, Aquarius is my 1st house – the house of the self-identity. It is squaring my moon in Scorpio. My moon is related to my work environment, daily routines, etc. And the moon overall signifies the mother, as well as the home. There are definitely changes going on in my home right now. I am trusting that although this process is uncomfortable, it is meant to transform me and catapult me forward.
Friday, October 16: Mars in Leo trine Saturn in Aries
This is also an exciting transit. This is where the desire starts getting a structure.
Mars is our drive, action and willingness to go after something. In Leo, that can be creative, expressive and connected to something we care about deeply. Saturn brings responsibility, patience, limits and the work required to make something last. In Aries, there can be a lesson around taking initiative and learning to trust yourself enough to begin.
A trine can help those two work together. I want to do this, and I’m willing to do what it takes. That feels different from either getting excited and burning through all your energy immediately, or planning forever without actually starting.
Your biggest desire may still need several steps. This is a good time for figuring out the first few: what needs practicing, what needs scheduling, what resources do you need, and what can you realistically do this week? It can also support steady physical effort, following through on a commitment, and handling a difficult task with a little more patience.
Saturn is still retrograde, so some of that work may involve revising a plan or strengthening something you’ve already started. Progress doesn’t have to mean a brand-new project. It might mean doing the repair properly, returning to the lesson, or building a routine you can maintain.
I really like this for giving a creative dream a practical place in your life. Put it on the calendar. Practice. Make the next thing. Let consistency build the confidence.
Also Friday: Moon enters Capricorn
The Moon moving into Capricorn adds another layer of wanting to make things useful and manageable. We may feel more focused on responsibilities, progress and what needs doing.
That can help us follow through, but don’t turn it into a reason to be hard on yourself. If you’re already carrying a lot, a solid plan includes rest and an honest look at your capacity. You are allowed to take care of yourself while you build something.
Lessons for this week
Pay attention to the people and possibilities that make you feel a little more hopeful. Be honest about what has been changing underneath. Then choose one thing you can actually act on.
Where have you been feeling a shift? Is there something you want to do that needs a little more courage, or a little more structure? I’d love to hear.
For this week’s video, I’m planning to explore the Sabian Symbol connected with Pluto’s station. At 3°04′ Aquarius, we use the symbol for the fourth degree of Aquarius. I want to spend some time with that image and what it brings to this conversation about power, change and the future. That video will be coming on my Youtube channel later this week.
