Weekly Astrology • October 4–10, 2026 • Dates and times below are for Denver, Colorado.
October is a big month in astrology, and we are already getting into it. Venus stationed retrograde yesterday in Scorpio, we have the Sun opposite Saturn today, and by the end of the week we have a New Moon in Libra with Venus and Mars squaring each other. So… there is quite a bit to talk about.
What stands out to me is how much of this is asking us to look at what we value, what we want, and where we have been holding ourselves back. In our relationships, in how we make money, in the things we want to create. There could be some uncomfortable realizations here, but also opportunities to renew things and make them better.
I want to walk through the week and explain how I am looking at it. Then, at the end, you can find your rising sign to see which areas of life this may be showing up in for you.
Venus Retrograde in Scorpio: What is coming back up?
Venus is our relationships, our values, our money, our sense of beauty and the things we find worthy. When Venus goes retrograde, I look at that energy as turning inward. We are re-evaluating what we want and why we want it. Does it still matter to us? Are we doing something because we actually value it, or because at some point we learned that we were supposed to?
A retrograde is an apparent backward movement from our perspective here on Earth. Venus is not actually reversing its orbit. It happens roughly every 19 months and lasts about six weeks. So, less often than Mercury retrograde, which we tend to hear about much more.
There is also an eight-year rhythm to Venus. About every eight years, these retrogrades return to a similar part of the zodiac, although the degrees shift. This Scorpio–Libra cycle echoes 2018, 2010 and 2002, and the next Venus retrograde beginning in Scorpio will be in 2034. If you remember what was happening for you in those earlier years, it may be interesting to look back. You are older now. What do you understand differently?
Venus has also long been associated with love and beauty, including through the Roman goddess Venus and the Greek Aphrodite. There is something interesting about watching a planet we associate with attraction and connection ask us to reconsider the very things we are drawn toward.
- October 3: Venus stations retrograde at approximately 8°29′ Scorpio.
- October 25: Venus moves back into Libra.
- November 13: Venus stations direct at approximately 22°52′ Libra, in Denver time.
- December 4: Venus re-enters Scorpio, moving forward.
- December 15: Venus passes the degree where it stationed retrograde and leaves its post-retrograde shadow.
- January 7, 2027: Venus leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius.
The shadow is the stretch of the zodiac Venus travels over more than once. The retrograde itself ends in November, but the larger process of revisiting and working through those same degrees continues into December.
In Scorpio, I am looking at the feelings and beliefs underneath the surface. Our vulnerabilities. Our fears around trusting people. The old hurt that may still be affecting how we love or how we handle money. The parts of ourselves we keep hidden, sometimes even from ourselves.
Scorpio symbolism brings me to intimacy, shared resources and transformation. The actual house Scorpio occupies in your chart will tell us where this is playing out more specifically. But generally, questions around trust and sharing could come up. Can I let somebody know what I really need? Do I feel safe receiving help? Is there an unspoken expectation attached to what we share?
An old relationship could come back around. An old conversation could need another look. Or you may recognize a pattern within a current relationship that you are ready to address. That can also be an opportunity to deepen something good. To be more honest with each other and make the relationship better.
With money and values, an old creative idea might return. Something you wanted to make, a way you wanted to earn money, a project you put aside because you did not feel ready or worthy enough. Maybe it still matters to you. Maybe now you can approach it differently.
That is the transformation piece I am interested in. What old thing could become something new because your relationship to it has changed? See what comes up and pay attention to it. You do not have to have the whole answer this week.

Sunday, October 4: Balance, responsibility and a little heart
Sun in Libra opposite Saturn retrograde in Aries. Moon enters Leo in the late afternoon.
The Sun is our identity, vitality and sense of purpose. In Libra, it is focused on balance, relationships and how we work with other people. Saturn is responsibility, rules, limits and the foundations we are building. In Aries, that brings us back to ourselves: our independence, our choices and what we need to take responsibility for.
Saturn is traditionally in its fall in Aries. Aries wants to act now; Saturn wants to take time and build something that will hold. That can feel frustrating. Especially with Saturn retrograde, we may be reviewing the rules we live by and whether we are taking responsibility in a way that actually supports us.
With the opposition, you may feel stifled, tired, or pulled between what somebody else needs and what you need to do for yourself. Alternatively, you may feel very capable of getting serious and buckling down. I actually think this could be useful planning energy. What can you realistically commit to? What needs a boundary? What are you trying to fit into a day that simply does not fit?
Later, the Moon enters Leo, bringing our emotional focus toward our hearts, our passion, our creativity and our courage. Make some room for what makes you feel alive. Even if that is twenty minutes working on something you love after you have handled a responsibility.
Tuesday, October 6: Putting words to what we value
Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde in Scorpio. Moon enters Virgo in the evening.
Mercury is our thoughts, ideas, communication and how we process information. When it joins Venus retrograde in Scorpio, we may start finding words for something we have been feeling. An idea about a relationship. A realization about money. A belief about our own value that has quietly been running the show.
Maybe you realize you have been undercharging because asking for more feels uncomfortable. Maybe you notice that you keep saying something is fine when it really is not. Or an old project comes to mind and you can suddenly see a way to make it work.
This can be a good time to revisit a conversation, too. Scorpio wants some honesty. What has been difficult to say? What do you need to understand more deeply before responding?
The Moon moves into Virgo later that evening. Virgo brings us into the practical side of life: our routines, responsibilities and the details that need attention. Mercury rules Virgo, so there is a connection here between understanding something and figuring out what to do with that understanding.
Keep a journal this week. Write down the idea, the conversation, the feeling or the old belief you notice. Then ask what one small change might help. You do not need to reorganize your whole life because you had one realization.
Wednesday, October 7: Courage to try something different
Mars in Leo sextile Uranus retrograde in Gemini.
Mars is our drive, our desires and how we take action. In Leo, it adds fuel to our passions and creativity. It wants us to live from our hearts and have the courage to show up.
Uranus is sudden change, unexpected information, freedom and those realizations that shake up how we have been thinking. In Gemini, that can come through a conversation, something we read, a new tool, or a completely different way of looking at a problem.
A sextile is a supportive opportunity, but we generally have to engage with it. This could be an idea that gives you the courage to move forward in a way you had not considered. Maybe you have been waiting until you can do something perfectly, and then realize there is a much simpler way to begin.
Try the unfamiliar approach. Have the conversation. Make the first version of the thing. Trust yourself enough to explore the realization, while giving yourself time to see whether it holds up. A sudden idea can be useful without needing to become an immediate, permanent decision.
Friday, October 9: What would balance actually look like?
Moon enters Libra early in the morning.
Our emotional focus moves toward relationships, cooperation, beauty and balance. We may become more aware of where something feels unequal, or where we want a little more peace.
As we move toward the New Moon, I would pay attention to where you are trying to keep everybody happy. Is there room for you in that arrangement? What would make it more fair? This could be as practical as changing who handles a household task, asking for help, or setting aside time for a conversation you have been avoiding.
Saturday, October 10: New Moon in Libra
The New Moon is around 9:50 a.m. MDT, at approximately 17°22′ Libra. Venus retrograde squares Mars later that afternoon.
First, what is a New Moon?
A New Moon happens when the Sun and Moon meet at the same degree of the zodiac. The Moon is close to the Sun in our sky and its illuminated side faces away from us, so we generally cannot see it.
Astrologically, I look at this as the beginning of a new cycle. The Sun is our identity, ego and vitality. The Moon is our emotions, intuition and what helps us feel secure. When they come together, there is an opportunity to bring what we want and what we feel into the same conversation.
You can set an intention, begin something, or simply notice what is starting to take shape. A beginning can be small. Sometimes it starts with admitting what you need.
Then, what does Libra add?
Libra is relationships, balance, fairness and how we share life with other people. This New Moon may bring a beginning around partnership, a new agreement, or a different way of relating to someone. It can also be about making your surroundings more harmonious or bringing beauty back into your life.
With Venus retrograde, some of these new beginnings may come from revisiting something old. A relationship can begin a new chapter. An agreement can be rewritten. You can return to a creative idea with a better understanding of what you want from it.
An intention I like for this New Moon is: What would I need to change so that my relationships reflect what I actually value?
The aspects: Jupiter offers encouragement
The Sun and Moon are applying to a sextile with Jupiter in Leo, with an orb of roughly four and a half degrees. Jupiter is growth, abundance, generosity and what we often call luck. In Leo, it encourages creativity, warmth and the willingness to let ourselves be seen.
I read this as some encouragement around the beginning we are making. A generous conversation. Someone willing to help. The confidence to share an idea or make room for joy. This is supportive energy to work with, and I would still be mindful of promising more than we can deliver.
The New Moon is also separating from a wide opposition to Saturn, so the responsibility and boundaries we were looking at on Sunday are still part of the story. What we begin needs room to grow and a foundation that can support it.
The ruler: Venus retrograde square Mars
Next, I look to the ruler of the New Moon. Libra is ruled by Venus, and Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, squaring Mars in Leo. So the planet guiding this beginning is already asking us to re-evaluate relationships, money and values, while Mars wants to act on our desires.
Venus and Mars are often described as the feminine and masculine principles: attraction and receiving, desire and action. I use those as symbolic energies that we all carry, regardless of gender.
On the lighter side, this square could bring passion, chemistry and creative energy. There can be something exciting about figuring out how to bring what you love and what you want to do together.
On the harder side, Mars in Leo may be very focused on his own desires, his pride or his need to be recognized, while Venus in Scorpio is asking deeper questions. Can I trust this? Am I valued here? Are we repeating something that has hurt before?
In everyday life, that could be one person wanting attention while the other needs reassurance. It could be tension over shared money and personal spending. Or it could be wanting to launch a creative project while realizing that the price, the partnership or the way you are doing it no longer feels right.
Both Leo and Scorpio are fixed signs, so digging in can be part of the challenge. If there is tension, I would look at what it is showing you about your needs and your values. Where are you defending your pride? Where are you afraid to be vulnerable? Can you be honest about what you want and still listen to what the other person needs?
The way I like to work with a square is to use it to move toward greater alignment. That may mean adjusting something together. It may mean setting a boundary. It may mean realizing that you want something different now. You get to decide what to do with what you learn.
Where I would look for support
Mars still has its separating sextile to Uranus in Gemini. If you feel stuck in the same argument or the same way of doing things, there may be another approach. A different question, an unexpected idea, a more creative way of sharing the load. Give those realizations some attention and have the courage to try a small change.
Mars is also applying to a trine with Saturn retrograde in Aries, which becomes exact on October 16. This is where courage can meet commitment. What would make your desire sustainable? What responsibility belongs to you? What structure would help you follow through?
For example, a creative idea might need a realistic schedule. A relationship conversation might need an actual agreement about money or time. Wanting something matters. Making space for it and taking responsibility for your part matters, too.
The mini grand trines: The bigger picture
A mini grand trine is a pattern made of one trine and two sextiles. Symbolically, it connects ease with opportunities we can choose to use.
Mars in Leo, Uranus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries form that pattern broadly around this New Moon. Mars and Uranus are about two and a half degrees from their exact sextile, and Mars and Saturn are about three degrees from their exact trine. Saturn and Uranus are wider, about five and a half degrees from a sextile. With tighter transit orbs, I would describe this as connected supportive aspects rather than a tight mini grand trine.
What I take from it is the possibility of bringing creativity, fresh thinking and responsibility together. You can try something different while still giving it a structure. You can act from your heart while being thoughtful about what you are committing to.
There is also a tighter, slower-moving mini grand trine between Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, Neptune retrograde in Aries and Uranus retrograde in Gemini. Uranus trines Pluto, and Neptune sextiles both. This is sometimes called the “divine mini grand trine,” although that name is an interpretive label rather than a separate technical aspect.
Pluto brings transformation and questions of power. In Aquarius, I look at communities, systems, freedom and how we participate in the collective. Neptune in Aries brings questions about our vision, faith and the kind of person we want to become. Uranus in Gemini changes how we think, communicate and connect ideas.
Together, I see possibilities for imagining a different future and questioning assumptions we have outgrown. With all three retrograde this week, some of that process may be internal: changing our beliefs, noticing where we have given away our power, or reconsidering what freedom means to us.
These are long-term background influences, rather than something that begins and ends on Saturday. They also do not erase the Venus–Mars tension. I like looking at both: where there is something to work through, and where we have support for doing it differently.
